When preparing for the first use of the season, you should address
basic preventive measures, such as:
Changing the spark plug
Cleaning or replacing the air filter
Checking to ensure that all protective devices like the deflector
are attached and working
Mixing fresh fuel. Do not use last year’s fuel mix because gasoline
degrades over time. Buying fresh gasoline and using new mix oil will
help prevent problems. (In the Fall, before storing your equipment,
you should drain the fuel tank and run the engine at near idle until
it starves for fuel. Then shut if off and store the unit in a cool,
dry place to prevent gumming up/corrosion of the carburetor.)
Replacing the trimmer line. Trimmer line dries out and older line
will break more easily
